These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Verbanu website at verbanu.com and the Verbanu application at app.verbanu.com (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Verbanu is a hands-free vocabulary slideshow tool for passive language learning. The Service lets you display word pairs, hear them spoken aloud, and cycle through your vocabulary with customizable timers and playback settings.

Free tier: You may use a limited session without creating an account. Free sessions are stored only in your browser and are lost when you close the tab.

Premium tier: With an account and active subscription (or founding beta access), you get cloud-synced classrooms, multiple word lists, saved sessions, learned-word management, and an ad-free experience.

2. Accounts

To access Premium features, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. Authentication is handled by Supabase. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to create an account.

3. Subscriptions and billing

Premium subscriptions are billed through Paddle, our payment processor. Current pricing is displayed in the app (currently $9.97/month after any promotional period).

Founding beta: A limited number of early users may receive free Premium access during the beta period. We reserve the right to modify or end the founding beta program at any time.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You may cancel or manage your subscription through the Paddle customer portal accessible from your account page in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds: Except where required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@verbanu.com.

You retain ownership of the vocabulary lists and other content you create. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide and improve the Service.

6. Advertising

The free tier may display advertisements during playback. Premium subscribers do not see ads. We may change ad placement or partners at any time.

7. Disclaimer

Verbanu is an educational tool. We do not guarantee that use of the Service will result in language proficiency or any particular learning outcome. The Service is provided for supplementary vocabulary practice only.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verbanu and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty euros (€50), whichever is greater.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may delete your cloud data at any time from your account page. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Czech Republic, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
